Linda Tedford, Artistic Director
Linda L. Tedford is the Founder, Artistic Director, and Conductor of the Susquehanna Chorale. She is also responsible for the creation of the Chorale’s Educational Outreach program, which reaches hundreds of local student singers annually. Choirs under her leadership have performed at regional and state conventions of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA), for the Legislature and Governor of Pennsylvania, and in several European venues. Ms. Tedford and the Chorale were the 1994 recipients of Chorus America’s highest lifetime award: The Margaret Hillis Achievement Award for Choral Excellence.
In addition, Linda Tedford is Artist-in-Residence and Director of Choral Activities at Messiah College. She conducts the Concert Choir, the Chamber Singers, the Messiah College Choral Arts Society and teaches conducting and voice.
Ms. Tedford holds a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Temple University, where she studied with internationally renowned conductor Robert Page. She pursued additional study at Westminster Choir College, as well as with prominent conductors such as Robert Shaw, Gregg Smith, and Dale Warland, and with voice teachers Robert Grooters and Thomas Houser. As a member of the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia, she has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra under the direction of such conductors as Eugene Ormandy, Ricardo Muti, and Claudio Abbado. She has served as a member of the Choral/Opera Panel for the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and has been the Community Choruses Repertoire and Standards Committee Chairperson for ACDA in Pennsylvania and in the Eastern Division. She is an active member of Chorus America, the American Choral Directors Association, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and the Music Educators National Conference.
Lou Ann Potter, Accompanist
Lou Ann Potter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Messiah College, where she majored in piano and organ. She has been Director of Music and Organist at Christ Presbyterian Church in Camp Hill for over thirty years. Ms. Potter also serves on the faculty of Bucknell University as Adjunct Professor of Piano, where she also serves as accompanist and coach for The Bucknell Opera Company and accompanist for the music department. Ms. Potter was formerly the accompanist for both the Alumni Chorale of Lebanon Valley College and The Harrisburg Singers. She serves on the executive committee of the board of directors for the Harrisburg Chapter of The American Guild of Organists and is a member of the American Choral Directors Association.
A frequent recital accompanist throughout the area, Lou Ann Potter has accompanied classes, auditions and workshops through the years under such directors and soloists as Robert Page, John Rutter, Jerome Hines, William Warfield, Joseph Martin, John Ness Beck and Jake Heggie. In 2003, she recorded the 4-hand piano accompaniment with Jake Heggie for his newest opera, The End of the Affair.
